Common questions
How do I set up a budget in Money OS?
Go to Budgets in your workspace, create a new budget, choose the category, set the monthly limit, and activate it. Transactions in that category automatically count against the budget as they are imported.
What happens when I exceed a budget?
Money OS sends an email alert and the category shows as over-budget in the dashboard. The system records the overage but does not prevent additional transactions. You remain in control.
Can I set different budgets for different months?
Yes. Budgets can be edited at any time. If you know Q4 is high-travel season, update the Travel budget in October. The change applies from the next billing period.
How many budget categories can I create?
There is no limit on budget categories. Create a budget for every expense category you track.
Can I see my budget performance over the full year?
Yes. The Budget vs. Actual report can be run for any custom date range, including the full calendar year. See which months ran over budget and by how much.
